Butterfly Generator

A Blender add-on that generates realistic butterflies with live updates: every setting in the panel rebuilds the geometry or updates the material instantly. Nine real species are the starting points (Monarch, Blue Morpho, Swallowtail, Peacock, Red Admiral, Painted Lady, Cabbage White, Glasswing, Common Blue), and Randomize Individual varies shape, colours and spots around the species.

The wings are fans running from base to margin, and a single shared shader draws the veins, dark margin, submarginal spots, bands, eyespots, iridescence, scale relief and the Glasswing's transparency. The underside has its own pattern. The body (head, thorax, segmented abdomen, compound eyes, fuzz), clubbed antennae, legs and coiled proboscis are generated too.

Wing flapping is driven by drivers, with a slight lag on the hindwing, and one button adds an erratic flight path.
